• Thanks for the info. There are so many fake or modified pieces of amber on the market. Even if you buy from an IAA member many pieces are heat treated, with all sorts of unnatural sun spangles. FTIR is one of the most reliable ways of authentication but it cannot detect heat modification. The most meticulous heat treatment may even fool experts. - od Sniper5354
